Doctoral Candidate Position

The Propulsion & Energy Research Laboratory at the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering, University of Central Florida is currently seeking exceptional doctoral candidates for state of the art research opportunities (Graduate Research Assistantship and/or Teaching Assistantship) in reacting and non-reacting turbulent flows for advance aero-propulsion and combustion energy conversion systems.

Job Description:

The research will focus understanding the fundamental interactions between fluid and flame dynamics for multi-phase turbulent reacting flows, clean combustion strategies and alternative renewable biofuels through experimental research and physics-based reduced order models.

Candidates must have the following in order to be considered for this position:

• A recent M.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering

• A strong background and training in thermal sciences, fluid mechanics, and combustion sciences

• A demonstrated accomplishment in experimental and numerical research

• A working style demonstrating initiative and willingness to take on individual responsibility

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• The ability to work effectively with others

• Experience with advanced laser-based optical diagnostics (PIV/PLIF) and experience with combustion research.

To apply, send a resume/C.V. (GPAs, GRE scores and list of references) to the Director Dr. Kareem Ahmed.
