Biography<\/h3>
\u00a0<\/div>

Dr. Ranajay Ghosh is currently an Associate Professor of \u00a0Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Central Florida. He earned his PhD from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York (2010) in the department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, where he was awarded the Harriet-Davis graduate school fellowship. His research focus is on mechanics of solids, composite and architected materials, and scientific computing applied to lightweight and aerospace systems. As a graduate student he was a research intern at General Electric’s Global Research Center at Niskayuna, New York where he was awarded GE’s global reward and recognition award for outstanding performance. \u00a0He is recipient of \u00a0the NSF CAREER award and Rising Star Faculty award from the Academy of Science Engineering and Medicine of Florida.\u00a0<\/p>

He completed his undergraduate education at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in Mechanical Engineering in 2004, where he was a finalist for the best undergraduate thesis award.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Pranta is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Central Florida (UCF). He joined UCF in Fall 2022 after earning his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in 2018. He also completed his M.Sc. from UCF in 2024 with the thesis titled “Bending Mechanics of Bio-mimetic Stiff Scale-Covered Plate”. His ongoing research focuses on the fluidic damping and micro-inertia effects in scale-covered beams, and the contact mechanics of biomimetic elastic half-spaces. Omid Bateniparvar is currently a Ph.D. student in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Central Florida, working under the supervision of Dr. Ranajay Ghosh. He earned both his Bachelor\u2019s and Master\u2019s degrees in Civil and Structural Engineering from the Isfahan University of Technology in Iran, where his early research focused on computational mechanics and singularities. His doctoral research lies at the intersection of nonlinear mechanics, vibrations, and machine intelligence. He investigates the nonlinear dynamics of biomimetic scale-covered metamaterials, with a particular emphasis on oscillatory and chaotic vibration regimes. This work advances fundamental understanding of how geometry-driven nonlinearities enrich mechanical responses, while also enabling novel applications. Specifically, his research explores how the complex, high-dimensional dynamics of these metamaterials can be harnessed for physical reservoir computing (PRC). By leveraging chaotic and nonlinear vibrations as analog reservoirs, his work aims to establish hardware-efficient computation frameworks that naturally bridge solid mechanics and artificial intelligence.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Farzan Farahmand is a PhD student in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Central Florida, working under the supervision of Dr. Ranajay Ghosh. His research focuses on biomimetic materials, swarm robotics, fracture mechanics, and numerical methods in mechanical engineering, exploring innovative solutions inspired by nature. Farzan earned his B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from K.N. Toosi University of Technology, Tehran, Iran, in 2016, and his M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Tarbiat Modares University, Tehran, Iran, in 2019. Passionate about advancing engineering through interdisciplinary approaches, he contributes to cutting-edge developments in materials and robotics.<\/p>
