Principal Investigator

Dr. Dazhong Wu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Central Florida. Dr. Wu’s research is focused on data-driven smart manufacturing, additive manufacturing, diagnostics, prognostics, and reliability engineering. Prior to joining UCF, he was a senior research associate at Penn State University. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at Georgia Tech. 

Dr. Wu was selected as one of the Most Influential Professors in Smart Manufacturing by the Smart Manufacturing Magazine. He received the 2019 Journal of Manufacturing Systems Best Paper Award. One of his papers was selected as the Most Accessed Article in 2019 by Journal of Manufacturing Science and Engineering. He was the Outstanding Reviewer of the Year selected by Journal of Manufacturing Systems in 2019. He serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Manufacturing Systems and the Journal of Intelligent Manufacturing.

Dr. Wu’s group at the University of Central Florida (UCF) has one Ph.D. position and one Postdoctoral Fellow position in Fall 2020 or Spring 2021. His research is focused on (1) additive manufacturing, (2) data-driven materials design, and (3) manufacturing process monitoring and structural health monitoring.
