Pouria Ahmadi

Assistant Professor

BIOGRAPHY

Pouria Ahmadi has an area of expertise in the optimization of energy systems, hydrogen and fuel cell technologies, alternative fuels, and advanced power plant technologies. He worked as an assistant professor at the University of Pittsburgh and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Sustainability, Energy and Environment (iSEE) at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he studied the decarbonization of transportation in the U.S. through alternative fuels.

Before joining UIUC, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the Fuel Cell Research Lab (FCReL) at Simon Fraser University (SFU), where he conducted experimental and numerical investigations of PEM fuel cell degradation mechanisms and lifecycle assessments of various hydrogen production methods. He has industrial experience in combined cycle power plant (CCPP) simulation and design, HRSG optimization, and waste heat recovery (WHR) for various industries.

He serves as an editor of Engineering Science and Technology and the International Journal of Sustainable Aviation, and also as a guest editor for the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy and the Sustainable Energy Technology and Assessment. In 2016, he was a panel organizer for the ASME Energy Sustainability Conference on “Building of the Future.” He is an author of more than 120 journal articles and more than 40 international conference papers.
