Ghost Rider: Functional Evaluation of an Exoskeletal Device
This research is being done to evaluate a robotic device intended for use in therapies for individuals with spinal cord injuries who have limited control of their lower limbs. The robotic device, known as an exoskeleton, is worn on the lower limbs of an individual and uses a series of motors to propel the legs and achieve walking.
We invite you to take part in a research study if you meet the following requirements:
- Age between 18 – 55
- Height between 1.5m – 2m (4ft 11in. – 6ft 6in.)
- Weight under 118kg (260lbs)
- Able to walk/use stairs without assistance
- Willing to come for testing visit and follow researcher instructions
- No known cardiovascular, pulmonary, metabolic, muscular, and/or coronary heart disease
- No neurological disorders
- No severe arthritis
- No upper/lower extremity orthopedic conditions that limit activity
- Haven’t recently undergone surgery or suffered a severe injury
- Are not currently undergoing a rehabilitation program
- Do not regularly use prescription medication that could alter response to exercise/affect ambulation
- Not under the influence of any substance that could alter response to exercise/affect ambulation
- Don’t have a chronic condition that could alter response to exercise/affect ambulation
- No allergy to silver
- Are not currently pregnant
Please note the in-person location of this study. Instructions for the UCF shuttle (for UCF students/staff only) or parking will be provided upon acceptance into the study.
